This is the 84th and final 'DogBox'. Thank you to everyone who has downloaded and listened to the show, and the rally fans, from all over the world, who emailed me to share their enthusiasm for rallying and motorsport in general. It's been great fun producing the show over the last two years. Bruce.

The last WRC event of 2007 and Marcus Gronholm's 150th and final event.

Marcus didn't get the fairy-tale ending he'd hoped for. A strong second place behind team-mate Mikko Hirvonen was the best he could muster, while Sebastien Loeb hung on for third place, good enough to claim the 2007 drivers title.

Rally Wales really threw the conditions at the crews, the rain and mud made even more difficult by stages run in darkness. And after an off late on day one, Jari-Matti Latvala showed just what he could do by winning the bulk of the stages on the final two days.

There's a new generation of drivers waiting to take centre-stage, but 2007 will go down as one of the classic years in WRC history.

Howard Jones - Just Look At You Now. It was in 1983 that Howard Jones released his first single ‘New Song’ in the UK. The expectation was that it might sell a few thousand copies and introduce his fresh new music to an unsuspecting world.

The reality was quite different. His second album spawned a series of hits including ‘Like To Get To Know You Well’, ‘Look Mama’, ‘Things Can Only Get Better’ and the classic ‘No One Is To Blame’ which reached No.1 in the U.S. singles chart and has since had over 3 million radio plays in USA.

Sebastien Loeb may have let Marcus Gronholm off the hook in Japan, but he certainly wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. Gronholm's exit on stage 4 opened the door for Loeb to take a six point lead in the championship with just one round to go.

With Dani Sordo safely in second place, Jari-Matti Latvala pushed up into third place, while Mikko Hirvonnen stayed out of trouble in fourth, capturing enough points for Ford to take their second Manufacturers Championship.

APRC Live - Rally China

Cody Crocker only needed to cross the start line to claim a second APRC title. But he went further, and while his rivals fell away during the opening day, Crocker powered on, not only taking APRC win, but the overall rally victory ahead of higher-profile European drivers.

Unfortunately for the MRF team, China provided no joy. Katsu Taguchi crashed out during the first morning, while Jussi Valimaki and Gaurav Gill were forced to stop thanks to contaminated fuel.

However China proved to be a treat for Brian Green, the only APRC driver, apart from Crocker, not to fall foul to the Chinese roads. He not only took second place on the podium, but also fourth for the series.

We take a look at this years unbelievable Rally Japan. Just when you thought Marcus Gronholm had handed Sebastien Loeb a third-straight series title, Loeb crashed. The attrition rate was high, giving some of the series less visible competitors the chance to shine.

Mikko Hirvonen and Dani Sordo finished 1-2 for Ford and Citroen, while Henning Solberg and Matthew Wilson put in a great finish for Stobart, just ahead of Luis Perez Companc and Federico Villagra in the Munchis cars.

With a week off before Rally Japan, I thought now would be great time to catch up with Chris Atkinson. While the Subaru team will carry the weight of local expectation, Rally Japan is an event where Chris has had a fair degree of success.

I caught up with him on Friday night, just as he and the rest of the Subaru World Rally Team were about to fly out of London for Hokkaido.

The fourth-last rally of the WRC year, and Sebastien Loeb bags another one. But Marcus Gronholm wasn't letting the Frenchman out of his sight, and hung on for an important 2nd-place, Dani Sordo unable to challenge Gronholm.

The championship could be decided by the performances of the Sordo and Hirvonnen, and whether they can 'steal' points from either Gronholm or Loeb.

And 'Welcome to the WRC' Suzuki. The little white SX4 had a solid first outing; not too many problems and posting times near the top-10 all event. There's a really short video the Nicolas Bernardi in the SX4 up at YouTube.

Kick in the Can - Dan. Originally formed by Gregoire Nachbauer and Edouard Schmitt, the bands rhythm section was added in the form of Vincent Atlan and Thomas Flieg. The boys reside in Paris, and although they don't have a CD available at the moment, you can hear more of their tracks at their MySpace page. (Thanks to the PMN for providing the track).

Nightshift - All Night Through. Gaël Benjamin & Jérôme Beuret share a common love of that 70's west coast American sound, and inspired by the Eagles, Steely Dan and Gerry Rafferty, they formed NightShift. Nightshift's debut album, 'Full Moon' is now available through Somekind Records, or iTunes.

Stephane Pompougnac - This is the real Stephane Pompougnac, seen as an 'urban neo-aristocrat' in Italy, as a 'French signature DJ' in England, as Hotel Costes’ little prince turned 'Baroque Olympus' in Germany, and hailed worldwide as the icon of New French Sophistication.

Sebastien Loeb was expected to do well here, and he didn't disappoint. But, if not for the leg one rain, Marcus Gronholm would have posed more of a threat, and with Dani Sordo claimed second place on the podium, Gronholm's series lead is now reduced down to six points.

Mubashir Noor - In Transit. The ex-'Corduroy' frontman is the first Pakistani musician we've had on the show. TheDogBox #76 - ARC Great Lakes Rally

Another round of the ARC, and another win for Toyota. Simon Evans didn't have things all his own way with Steve Glenney, Eli Evans and Spencer Lowndes providing some early resistance. But Evans and his Group N(P) Corolla are in a league of their own at the moment, walking away with the win as others faltered.

Second place was a good return for Neal Bates, who's hard work on the S2000 Corolla is starting to pay off, while Spencer Lowndes out-smarted the faster cars around him and capture third for the event.

The Last NSW ARC Round

It's been nearly two years since the ARC visited my home state, New South Wales. And for me, it has lots of good memories.

The round had moved away from the Central Coast (where I grew up) to Bathurst, and provided the opportunity to watch the super specials from the roof of the pit complex at Mount Panorama.

They began on the race track start line, ran through Hell Corner and then made a left-hand turn onto the dirt course constructed behind the pit buildings. It not only offered a great view, it also allowed you to wander downstairs and eyeball the crews working on their cars in the pits.

Mt Panorama also offered the first view of Fords brand new, rear-wheel drive, Group N(P) Focus. After promising all year they would contest the last couple of ARC rounds, the new Ford team had run out of time. But at least we could walk up and have a sticky-beak through the windows.

Of course, this was the last time we saw the Subaru Australia team, and the last time Cody Crocker won an ARC round. (He'd well and truly wrapped up the '05 title before coming to Bathurst). And it was also the last time we'd see Juha Kangas in Australia, the popular Finn bowing out of the ARC in a Les Walkden Subaru.

There was a great fight between Dean Herridge and Simon Evans. In the end, it was Dean who claimed second in both the rally and the championship.

The 'bad luck' award went to Scott Pedder, who started the event holding 2nd place in the championship. But a big accident on day 1 saw him DNF the opening leg, and when the weather intervened during Sunday, he wasn't able to score enough points to hold off Herridge and Evans.

But for me, my most lasting memory was of Sunday. After a gloriously sunny Saturday, Sunday was cold and wet and miserable.

We got down to the Bobs Creek early and grabbed a good spot, and waited. And as it got closer to the start of the first stage, it got colder and it got mistier. 15 minutes or so before the first car was due, a mob of 'roos hopped their way down the course, although it was bit hard to see them, the mist reducing visibility to about 10 metres or so.

And then to add insult to injury, it started to bucket down.

I don't think I've ever been as wet as that Sunday in October 2005. The road became so muddy, the zero car nearly went off at a 90 deg left-hander. One or two competitors made it through before the stages were cancelled.

There were a couple of super specials left to run, but we decided to head home, and I almost had a head-on with Eli Evans on the road back to the highway.

All up, it was a great weekend. The sort of memories you can't get on TV, and you can't get sitting in a grandstand. And that's what I love about rallying.

Atko's New Ride

The wraps have been official taken off the '08 Subaru Impreza, launched ahead of the
Frankfurt motor show by Petter Solberg.

In their press release, Subaru say the car represents a fundamentally new approach to the Impreza, and they will commence testing before the end of the year.

"We are on schedule with development of the 2008 car and the first body shell will be completed within a matter of weeks. We aim to be running the car in the last quarter of this year, and its competitive debut will be decided by the progress of testing and also that of the current car." - Richard Taylor, SWRT.

APRC Live - Rally Indonesia

At last! Someone else wins! Jussi Valimaki dominated Rally Indonesia from start to finish, while Katsu Taguchi banked solid times all weekend to take 2nd. The MRF Lancers turned around the disaster of Malaysia, for their best finish since the opening round in New Caledonia.

A simple mistake by Cody Crocker midway through leg 1 wrecked his event, 5th his worst result of the last two seasons. But even 5th scored him enough points to claim back-to-back APRC titles.

Crocker Hangs On For Second APRC Title

Another tough day of rallying in Indonesia, and Finland's Jussi Valimaki made the most of his great start on day 1, to complete the event at the top of the time sheets. Valimaki claimed his second win of the season, nearly a minute ahead of his MRF team-mate Katsu Taguchi.

With wins on the two morning stages, Valimaki remained in the top three all day to take the win, jumping into second place in the series.

But coming home with a 'wet sail' was Motor Image Subaru driver Cody Crocker, winning the final four stages of the rally and taking his second APRC championship title.

Although he was unable to improve on his 5th place from Saturdays stages, Valimaki's maximum points haul means Taguchi will not be able to catch Crocker in the championship, even if the Motor Image driver fails to score points at the final round in China.

Hiroshi Yanagisawa put his DNF in Malaysia behind him to claim the final podium position, and climb past Rifat Sungkar in the battle for 4th place in the championship. The Japanese driver is now just one point behind India's Naren Kumar, who was forced to retire mid-way through leg 2.

Valimaki Leaves Others In His Dust

In a shock turn-around to the APRC season, Jussi Valimaki and his MRF Lancer has blown away the rest of the field to lead after eight stages of Rally Indonesia.

And even more surprising, after a near trouble-free run all season, the man who looks most likely to take the title, Cody Crocker, has had his worst day of the season, 5th at the end of the leg and trailing Valimaki by a massive four and half minutes.

After a disastrous Rally Malaysia, the MRF Lancer team have turned it around in Indonesia, with Valimaki taking seven of the days eight stages, only bettered on stage 2 by his team-mate Katsu Taguchi.

By contrast Crocker and his team-mate, local hero Rifat Sungkar, have had a day to forget, unable to match the MRFs on the slow and dusty Sulawesi stages. By midday service, Crocker was just two seconds behind second-placed Taguchi. But after lunch he struck trouble, dropping two minutes on stage 6 and hemorrhaging more time on the final two stages of the day.

Another six stages await the crews on Sunday, and Crocker will need to catch Gaurav Gill, more than a minute ahead of him, to capture 4th place and enough points to seal the championship ahead of the final round in China.

VW Deny ARC 'Factory' Entry for 2008

I mentioned on TheDogBox #75 there's a rumour going around that Volkswagen is preparing two Super 2000 spec Polos for entry into next years Australian Rally Championship.

I wasn't able to confirm the speculation in time for the show, but today Jon Dawe, GM of Press and PR at VW Australia contacted me to say: "From a factory perspective we have no involvement with the Australian Rally Championship next year."

TheDogBox #75 - WRC Rally NZ

Rally NZ 2007; it will probably go down as one of the great fights of WRC history. Sebastien Loeb almost grabbed an up-set win. But after losing the lead at the end of day 2, Marcus Gronholm came from behind to snatch victory. 350kms of stages over three days, the two were split by just 0.3 second.

Pedder Completes First Test

As I mentioned in last weeks DogBox, Scott Pedder and Glenn Weston will be competing in Rally New Zealand next weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with Scott at the end of each day to bring you his thoughts on the event.

But in the meantime, Scott has completed his first test of a brand new 'Trading Post' Lancer Evo IX, prepared by Reece Jones (who also prepares Lancers for Brian Green and Naren Kumar in the APRC). Check out the YouTube video below.

Speaking on his web site, Scott said, "The car is very good and the guys...have done a fantastic job in a very short time. It was a very successful test session."

MRF Left Scratching Their Head

The major surprise to come out of Rally Malaysia was the forced retirement of Katsu Taguchi and Jussi Valimaki in the MRF Lancers. Valimaki had reported possible gearbox problems at the end of day 1, but the team was unable to fully examine the fault during service.

However the problem became crystal clear during Sundays first stage, Valimaki's rear differential failing and forcing him to retire at the end of the test. And things went from bad to worse, with Taguchi suffering the same problem on the very next stage.

(The third MRF Lance of Gaurav Gill suffered a broken short shaft in the front differential, which the team fixed during first service).

During the event team boss Lane Heenan suggested the rear diffs may have reached the end of their normal operating life.

But with the cars back at the Race Torque Engineering workshop, the team has investigated the matter further, and the mystery has deepened. Broken teeth were discovered in both rear diffs, which ultimately put Taguchi and Valimaki out of the rally.

What isn't apparent is why the teeth broke. After checking the team records, Heenan confirmed to APRC Live that neither rear differential was out of 'life', nor were they from the same batch.

Heenan and his team will continue to investigate problem, and both cars will be repaired and ready for Rally Indonesia. But unless the source of the problem can be found in time, both Valimaki and Taguchi will be hoping it doesn't raise its head again in the heat and dust of Sulawesi.

Another week, another DogBox, and this time we have coverage of the Rally Deutschland. A good effort by Sebastien Loeb to claim the second tarmac rally of the season in the Citroen C4. But after battling Francois Duval all weekend, disaster struck Marcus Gronholm on the very last stage.

Cody Crockers dream season keeps rolling on, Malaysia his fourth straight victory. Now with a 28 point lead, the rest of the year looks like to will be a fight for second between the MRF team-mates Katsu Taguchi and Jussi Valimaki.

And Malaysia was also a good event for the Reece Jones Motorsport entries, Naren Kumar and Brian Green claiming the other APRC podium positions.

And we also have a chat with three-time APRC champ Karamjit Singh about his come-back to the Malaysian national series, and a possible return to the APRC next year.

Simon Evans grabs another round win, but this time it's no so easy. Steve Glenney, using Cody Crockers APRC-winning Subaru from 2006, was back for his event of the season, and gave Evans a real run for his money.

Herridge and Bates continue to battle it between themselves, while Brendan Reeves and Spencer Lowndes continue to bank solid results.

The Last Parade - Modern Way. The Last Parade dig deep into their rich musical rapport to produce a sound left of present-day rock bands. The tightness and urgency which is evident in the songs can be put down to the personal history the three Jeffery brothers share. Since an early age Keith, Steven and Michael have been writing and performing together and have a common love of music by the Police and the Beatles.

Masterthief - Not So Easy. Masterthief are one of many up-and-coming young bands in the Adelaide scene, but their sound is refreshingly unique. Born out of the long-running songwriting partnership between James Holmes and Jon Low, there is maturity in their sound that comes from a diverse array of influences, from Sigur Ros, Death Cab for Cutie and The Police to contemporary jazz and art-rock. Stay tuned for the release of their debut album which has been in production throughout the first half of 2007.

We Grow Up - Mulberry Tree. The musical outfit formed by singer/songwriters Anthony Golding and Jonathan Mortimer, the band has recently we recorded a batch of songs as well as building up a full band for live performances.

James Gary - Under the Influence. Having established himself as a respected songwriter in the Australian music scene, James, with his band The Resistance, is creating his own niche – one which sits conspicuously yet deservedly, alongside his singer/song-writing contemporaries.

Ethel Suspense - John Wayne. Founded in 1998 by Tomppa and Julle, and after a break of several years, are back together writing, recording and giging. More tracks are up at their MySpace page.

Three from three; Simon Evans does it again. Showing just how dominent the Group N(P) Corolla really is, Cody Crocker managed to beat him on just one stage at Rally of Canberra.

Dean Herridge and Neal Bates resumed their battle, taking the podium positions, with Bates' brand-new Super 2000 Toyota reliable and impressive on debut.

Just behind them, Eli Evans, Will Orders and Spencer Lowndes put on great fight on the final day, but it was an other tough visit to Canberra for Ford, neither Michael Guest nor Darren Windus completing the event.

Can Team Kiwi Survive?

As many of you would know by now, FPR have ripped up their contract with Team Kiwi Racing. The rumour is TKR have been unable to meet their financial obligations with FPR, which owns and prepares the #021 Falcon.

The ripple-on effect is that Paul Radisich has walked away from the team, quoted by Fox Sport as saying "TKR is in breach of contract and I have therefore terminated my contract with immediate effect".

With the Eastern Creek round of the V8 Supercar series starting in just a couple of days time, it seems the most likely scenario is that TKR will seek to lease their licence to a development series team. If they can't make it to Eastern Creek with a car, they face the additional burden of fines from TEGA, which requires licence holders to attend all rounds of the series.

APRC Live - Rally of Canberra

The MRF Lancers of Katsu Taguchi and Jussi Valimaki were back for round 3 of the APRC season, the Rally of Canberra. But even with the additional competition, Cody Crocker again grabbed maximum points, increasing his championship lead to 32 points.

While Taguchi had a good Leg 1 and finished 2nd for the event, turbo problems on Leg 2 allowed Valimaki to capture an additional bonus point. The team-mates now tied for 2nd place, on 24 points.

TheDogBox #66 will provide full coverage of the ARC section of Rally of Canberra, and should be ready for download within a couple of days.

TheDogBox #65 - WRC Rally Sardinia

The Jersey Line - Sabotage. Although originally a four-piece, The Jersey Line has evolved into a power trio. The band is working on organising shows in Italy and also is planning on touring Europe promoting its music. This track is taken from their 2006 album Misery Club, which is available from their web site.

Paperadio - Turn Your Lips. Paperadio have played music at all the usual venues in Sydney and London but listing them all is a bit silly. A much better idea is to describe them as young, smart and mercurial. Like a Chekov short story full of intrigue and verve yet not spelling out the final play. Superpartner - Microfilm. From Squinzano in Italy, Superpartner began as a duo band in 2003, but have since expanded to a six-piece lineup. In 2006 they released an enhanced CD titled 'Pink Girl', and perfomed live at the Sud Est Indipendente Festival in Otranto which also reatured Baustelle, Bugo, Lotus and Studiodavoli. APRC Live - Rally of Whangarei

Back for 2007, defending champ Cody Crocker kick-started his championship in the best possible way at the Hella Rally International of Whangarei. Not only did he take maximum points for the event, he also won leg 1 and was 2nd overall, behind localyoung-gun Hayden Paddon.

Hiroshi Yanagisawa made amends for a disappointing Rally New Caldeonia, taking second behind Crocker, while Rifat Sungkar and Jean-Louis Leyraud battled all event for the final step on the podium.

Crocker Wins in NZ, Signs Two-Year Deal

Cody Crocker has kick-started his APRC title defence in the best possible manner, grabbing maximum points at Rally Whangarei over the weekend. Second overall, behind local Kiwi driver Hayden Paddon, the result vaults Crocker to the top of the APRC standings on 16 points, just one clear of Finlands Jussi Valimaki.

After the event, Crocker announced he has signed a two year deal to drive for the Singapore-based Motor Image team, a 12-month extension to what many expected to be a single-year deal. That raises some questions over whether Crocker will rejoin Les Walkden next year, with the Tasmanian team planning an assult on the PWRC for 2008.

The Hella International Rally of Whangarei, round 2 of the Asia-Pacific Championship, is being run this weekend on the roads of New Zealands Northland district.

This will be the first outing for defending APRC champ Cody Crocker, this year driving for the Motor Image Rally Team, a two-car line-up with Indonesian Rifat Sungkar in the second WRX.

With the MRF Lancers Jussi Valimaki and Katsu Taguchi missing from this round, Crocker will be out to grab a bagful of points before they face-off for the first time at Rally Canberra.

But Cusco Racings Hiroshi Yanagisawa will been looking to make life difficult for Crocker, following a disappointing Rally of New Caledonia. And Kiwi national champ Richard Mason also has a point to prove, after sneaking past Crocker on the final day of last years NZ round to grab outright honours.

Add into the mix the five-car Team New Caledonia, lead by Patrick Yanai, 2006 US Rally Championship runner-up Ken Block, and a strong field of entries from the New Zealand Rally Championship, and it's looking like a fantastic rally weekend in Whangarei.

All the action will be available via podcast at APRC Live, available on Tuesday morning, as well as regular updates from the APRC.TV web site.

WRC - In a climate where rallies are jostling to be included in the WRC, Argentina did itself no favours. A 700km transport to the service park and all of the first days proper stages cancelled, not the best way to the start the event.

But once all all the crews had made it to Cordoba, Sebastien Loeb and Marcus Gronholm rejoined the battle in the mud ans slush.

ARC - Queensland just wasn't enough for Simon Evans! He dominated the Western Australian round of the ARC as well. But the Fiestas of Michael Guest and Darren Windus did enough to show that he may not have things all his own way once he moves over to his new S2000 Corolla.

Dean Herridge struggled with intermittent problems, but Brenden Reeves again showed great promise.

We've got all the action from both heats, plus an interview with Darren Windus from the Ford Pirtek Rally Team.

V8 Supercars - The V8 Supercars are now making their way back from NZ. Round 3 was run over the weekend, and the Toll HSVs were again the stand-out of the field. But Garth Tander wasn't too happy after the final race was shortened to fit in with Channel 7's AFL commitments.

WRC - Stephane Prevot teams up with Chris Atkinson for the rest of the season. Ford to go on the attack before the tarmac events, and Petter Solberg is off to recce Rally Jordan next month.

Aussies abroad - Will Power had a disappointing run at Houston, giving up the championship lead to Sebastien Bourdais. Meanwhile, Marcus Ambrose is fighting on in NASCAR, even though he took Juan Pablo Montoya out of the O'Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Bathurst 12 Hour Race - This Easter saw the return of the Bathurst 12 Hour Production Race, an addition to the Bathurst International Motor Festival. The race was a fight between the Holt/Baird/Morris BMW 335i and the Impreza WRX STI of Atkinson/Crocker/Herridge. All the results are up at the BIMF web site.

Race To The Sky - The annual Race To The Sky was held last weekend in the Cardrona Valley on New Zealands south island. And although Suzuki World Rally Team boss Nobuhiro 'Monster' Tajima didn't break the elusive eight minute barrier, he still claimed the win over rival Kenneth Eriksson.

A1GP - The A1GPs were in Shanghai last weekend for the 10th round of the season. And although he didn't win either race, Nico Hulkenberg did enough to secure the title for 2006-2007.

Macneall and Atkinson Split

I didn't see this one coming. Glenn Macneall, Chris Atkinson's co-driver, has announced he's leaving the Subaru World Rally Team, with immediate effect.

An obvious choice would be Chris' brother Ben, who was his original co-driver, but decided not to step-up to the WRC in 2004. But will the team look to install a more experienced co-driver, Kaj Lindstrom for example? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

WRC - Another rally where it's an arm wrestle between Sebastien Loeb and Marcus Gronholm. But in this case, it's Seb that comes out on top. For for the final podium, Mikko Hirvonen and Petter Solberg put on a great fight all rally.

But the real controversy came at the end of the event, the Fords of Gronholm, Hirvonen, Jari-Matti Latvala, Henning Solberg, Matthew Wilson, and Gareth McHale all penalised 5 minutes for side-window glass that was 0.5mm too thin. I'm sure we're going to hear more about this.

Coming Up...2007 ARC Season Preview

The Australian Rally Championship kicks off in just over a week, so for all you ARC die-hards we'll have an 'ARC 2007 Preview' show out during the middle of next week.

We'll chat to Neal Bates to go over the details of his new Super 2000-spec Corolla, talk to Dean Herridge about his chances this year, and run through exactly who'll be back for 2007.

Ophelia Hope - Whatever. Hot off the mastering press from the Norwegian trio. The band formed in 2003, the combined efforts of local girl Ingrid on vocals, and two foreign ring-ins, Italian Davide on bass, and Aussie Paul on guitars and keyboards.

Zeal - Yumi And The Sky. Zeal's sound is a mélange of musical styles, drawing inspiration from the strong song writing of Ben Folds, the conviction of Ani DiFranco and the musical exploration of Radiohead all glued together by a hip-hop production etiquette. Zeal was chosen as a featured artist in Triple J's '06 Unearthed competiton.

The Ides - The Governor Hindmarsh. The Ides are yet to accurately define their funky, acoustic, piano-driven sound; they vary between the jazzed-up, rockin'-out, laid-back and downright amusing.

WRC - The first of this years new events, the WRC was in Norway last weekend for the third round of the championship. Mikko Hirvonen upset both Marcus Gronholm and Sebastien Loeb to claim his second WRC win. Henning and Petter Solberg gave the locals plenty to cheer about, battling right up to final stage for 3rd and 4th places.

Rally Tasmania - Alan Simonsen and Cody Crocker fight it out in Burnie, with Simonsen grabbing his second tarmac victory in a row.

Donna-Marie - Sinking Deep. From Manchester in the UK, Donna-Marie is a folk-rock artist, who self-produced this track in her home studio. You can hear more of her tracks up at her MySpace, as well as up-coming gig dates.

Aerobleu - Why Would You Want To. Aerobleu are a four-piece soul/funk outfit. The band having been playing regular gigs around Sydney over the last few years, and have just released their debut CD Green, which you can buy from CD Baby.

Katie Davis - Los Angeles. "It's Katie's raw emotion and soft-spoken voice that makes each track drip with sadness." - Unsigned Magazine, April '06.

Rally Norway show out on Tuesday

Rally Norway doesn't finish until Sunday afternoon (Oslo time), which is very early Monday morning in Sydney. That means I won't be able to finish the show until Monday night. So expect to see TheDogBox #53 ready for downloading on Tuesday morning (Sydney time).

As well as Rally Norway, we'll try and catch up will Rally Tasmania which is being run this weekend.

Moffat at Monza

I've always been a big Allan Moffat fan. (My brother Keith indoctrinated me from an early age).

Moffat best known as a Ford man, but later in his career, after Ford withdrew from touring car racing in Australia, he joined forces with Mazda and later Peter Brock's Holden Dealer Team.

One of his biggest career wins was in 1987, when he and John Harvey teamed up to win the first round of the World Touring Car Championship at Monza, in a Brock-prepared Commodore.

I'd only ever heard the story of the win; until today. There's a short video of the event up at YouTube that's well worth a look.

The Aberrations - Poolside. The Aberrations are a bunch of engineers from Newcastle who love building racing cars out in the back shed on weekends. When they get bored with cars they occasionally churn out indie pop stuff from their small analogue home studio. This is a preview track; the CD is scheduled for release in March through Shock Records.

Seagull Strange - Love's Sick Disease. One of my favourite Seagull Strange tunes, 'Love's Sick Disease', is off the Bristolians (is that a word?) new CD, 'Better Angels of Our Nature', which will be released on January 29. To pre-order the album go to Oxford Music.

The Lazy Cowgirls - You. The Lazy Cowgirls formed in LA in 1983, and for the next 20 years fused a variety of genres into their music. This track is taken from 'Thingmaker', a punk compilation album that was put together by Gearhead records.

Ben Taylor - Disease. A former member of 'Pilot Guides', Ben Taylor has been getting a great response both here in Australia and overseas, as well as being a finalist position in the prestigious 'John Lennon Song writing Award' in June of 2006.

WRC - In the final event of the WRC season, Marcus Gronholm does it easy in the Rally Wales, completing the year only one point behind series champ Sebastien Loeb. Manfred Stohl and Petter Solberg have a great fight for second place, and Jari-Matti Latvala holds off Xavi Pons to claim his best-ever WRC result.

ARC - Britek confirms that Darren Windus will join Michael Guest in a second Super-2000 Fiesta next year. Plus, new faces everywhere at Britek, as they gear up for their first year as a rally operation.

Lara - Thusund Fjoll. I should have got this track on the show sooner, but I managed to lose the flash drive it was sitting on. Having stumbled upon the drive earlier this week, I can tell you Lara is an Icelander who now resides in Spain. Escalating vocal textures, driving rhythms and melodic guitar lines characterise the music of Waiter. They head back to Victoria in December for the Festival of Folk, Rhythm and Life 2006 and tour Queensland and WA in late 2006/early 2007.

Enola Fall - We Become Wolves. Enola Fall is a five piece band from Hobart, that has supported major Aussie acts like Grinspoon, Eskimo Joe, Something for Kate and Epicure. 'We Become Wolves' is a taken from the band's second studio album, 'Ghostpoems', which will be out out soon.

ARC - Simon Evans claims his first ARC crown at the Rally of Melbourne, while Neal Bates makes it a Toyota 1-2 for 2006.

A1GP - The second year of A1GP has kicked off, with races at Zandvoort and Brno.

F1 - Since Schumacher announced his retirement, the fight for the championship has heated up. It all comes down to next weekends Brazilian GP.

There's just too much going on at the moment!

September is a usually a pretty busy month, with lots of birthdays and a wedding anniversary (number 15 this year; I think that's the 'recycled plastic' anniversary). But this year, we've also got family coming to stay, which means I've had to pack up the podcasting gear.

So, I'll be taking a break for the next couple of weeks, and plan to be back, fresh and ready to go, in mid-October.

And finally, probably my all-time, favourite musician, Bruce Cockburn is not just a skilled musician and prolific songwriter, with 33 albums to his credit and a Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee. Bruce Cockburn has spent much of his life working with non-government organisations raising awareness of the plight of refugees in latin America, famine and drought in west Africa, and the devastating legacy of landmines in Cambodia.

With thanks to True North Records and Bernie Finklestein, this final track is called 'After the Rain', and is taken from his 1979 album, 'Dancing in the Dragons Jaws'.

From Cannock in the UK, Guile are next up with Serendipity. The four-piece band have tracks available for download, so have a look at their web site, plus they're got a pretty full schedule of gigs for the rest of the year.

Oasis is the opening track from Stu Larsen's debut EP. Stu is a native of Toowoomba, and he's giging locally through August and September. Gig dates are on his MySpace page, and you can purchase Stu's fantastic EP from his web site.

The final band on this show are the Melbourne-rockers, The Wellingtons. I stumbled onto these guys at their MySpace page, and they have a great collection of hooky tunes. They're currently finishing up a tour of the US, and are playing gigs in New York and New Jersey this coming week.

Kicking off the show is Fume with 'Sunday Light', and yes, they are yet another band from Finland. The band released their debut CD 'Haunts' earlier this year.

Originally from New York, Gavin Kalan performs as Alaska Kalanen in his adopted homeland of Finland since 2004. He's currently pursuing an MA in anthropology at the University of Helsinki, and is also performing his delta-style blues throughout Finland. Gig dates are up on his MySpace page.

Jette-Ives provide a bit of sophistication this week, with their jazz-infused track 'Darker than You'. This is a preview of their CD titled 'In the Deep', which will be released in September. You can pre-order the CD from their web site, and you can check out more of their tunes and the 'Darker than You' video on their MySpace page.

And taking us out is yet another Finnish band. Molly Grows Up are 4-piece alt-rock band from Turku, who formed in 2004. The track is titled 'The Sound of You and I'.Their MySpace page has more of their tunes, gig dates, and details of where you can contact them.

V8 Supercars - At the Queensland 400, Garth Tander first, daylight second. Jason Bright, James Courtney and Craig Lowndes do their best, but can't match Toll HSV for pace. Skaife and HRT have another disappointing weekend. David John from Team Kiwi speaks to Newstalk ZB about a move to Ford.

Heading up the show this week is Ethel Suspense with 'John Wayne'. This is yet another of the fantastic Finnish indie bands that I've been playing lately. The band, from Helsinki, originally formed in 1998, and after a break of several year, are back together writing, recording and giging.

One of my favourite Scottish indie bands, Dropkick play the title track from their new CD, 'Obvious'. In support of the CD launch, the band are giging throughout Scotland over the next few weeks, so check the web site or MySpace page for gig dates. And if you want to hear more of the tracks from that album, Grant Mason presented an interview with the band on Three from Leith #49.

Here's a great Dannish indie band; Ehlers/Thejsen with the Art of Loneliness. CD details and more of their music is available on their web site.

And last but not least, Id Guinness is a Canadian who has been getting lots of airplay on AMP podcast around the world. 'River Rising' is taken from his latest CD, and there are more of his tunes on his MySpace page.
