V8 Supercars - A quick trip north from Eastern Creek, and the V8 Supercars were racing at Darwin's Hidden Valley over the weekend. The Kelly boys and Tander were strong again, but it was a nice return to form for Mark Skaife and Craig Lowndes.

F1 - We have a listen to Renaults new F1 podcast, that includes heaps of great technical talk with Bob Bell and Pat Symonds.

Rallying - Dean Herridge scores a 5th outright at his first event in China, while Jussi Valimaki talks about the costs of running as a privateer in the WRC.

Music this week from:

Augie March - Just Passing Through. See, in a world gone mad with window-dressing, Augie March actually makes stuff. Their albums are leather bound volumes on a shelf groaning with tatty magazines. They're the old family roast joint across the street from the plastic strip mall takeaway. And singer-songwriter Glenn Richards is a real live poet with a six-stringed loom. The guy doesn't even dance.

Download "Just Passing Through" (mp3). Thanks to Zomba Label Group and IODA Promonet.

More On This Album

Curious - Goodbye. CU*RI*OUS: Beyond or deviating from the usual or expected; Eagerly interested in more. Arousing or exciting speculation, interest, or attention through being inexplicable or highly unusual; odd; strange.

Your can purchase more Curious tracks from her online store.

Kelvin Declined - Yellow. Kelvin Declined is set on making an impact on the international market, either through collaborations with international artists or through extensive marketing of the band abroad. More of their music is available from Rhythm Records.

Sarah Mac Band - Your Don't Know. Our desire is to simply share who we are and what we have. Our goal is not to create some heretofore never heard great new sound or some new innovative way to play music. We just want to share what has been placed on our hearts. Should this become some great new innovative musical style that is fine with us. If it is not that, then that is fine with us too. Just as long as we authentically share who we are. We believe music created this way has enormous power to speak to people. We hope our music in some way speaks to you.

More Sarah Mac music is available from CD Baby.

WRC - Marcus Gronholm captures another Greek victory for Ford, but Loeb remains in the hunt, completing the event in second, while Petter Solberg provides Subaru with some joy and 3rd place.

Music this week from:

Mary's Flower Superhead - Tokyo. Having played with great bands and headlined local festivals, MFS are recording new material for their second EP.

Farewell Redemption - Naive. Farewell Redemption combines the best aspects of traditional alternative rock music and a new, modern, completely original vibe. The resulting sound and performance creates a wall of sound, roaring, hook-laden music and engaging vocals that you won't soon forget, or want to.

Lowride - Hooray for Everything. Hailing from the sunny shores of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Lowride have been treading the boards and rockin' the hoards since 2003. Weaned on the lifeblood that is Black Sabbath and Zeppelin, their wares have conjured the names Foo Fighters, Audioslave and Stone Temple Pilots for comparison, all the while creating their own monster rock force to be reckoned with.

Superpartner - Chic and Shine. From Squinzano in Italy, Superpartner began as a duo band in 2003, but have since expanded to a six-piece lineup. In 2006 they released an enhanced CD titled 'Pink Girl', and perfomed live at the Sud Est Indipendente Festival in Otranto which also reatured Baustelle, Bugo, Lotus and Studiodavoli. More of their music can be heard at MySpace.

Three from three; Simon Evans does it again. Showing just how dominent the Group N(P) Corolla really is, Cody Crocker managed to beat him on just one stage at Rally of Canberra.

Dean Herridge and Neal Bates resumed their battle, taking the podium positions, with Bates' brand-new Super 2000 Toyota reliable and impressive on debut.

Just behind them, Eli Evans, Will Orders and Spencer Lowndes put on great fight on the final day, but it was an other tough visit to Canberra for Ford, neither Michael Guest nor Darren Windus completing the event.

Music this week from:

Explone - Red Coat. "With Explone's 'Crooks' there are no pretentious lyrics or emotionally demanding tones. This is authentic, pleasant music that will steal the top of your play list and stay there for weeks." - Northwest Bands Dot Com. Check their MySpace page for details and gig dates.

Libero Vox - 'Outside In'. Libero Vox is actually the musical vehicle of Luke Golledge, and that track and more, are available either iTunes, or the Libero Vox web site.

The Jersey Line - The Control. Although originally a four-piece, The Jersey Line has evolved into a power trio. The band is working on organising shows in Italy and also is planning on touring Europe promoting its music. This track is taken from their 2006 album Misery Club, which is available from their web site.

Can Team Kiwi Survive?

As many of you would know by now, FPR have ripped up their contract with Team Kiwi Racing. The rumour is TKR have been unable to meet their financial obligations with FPR, which owns and prepares the #021 Falcon.

The ripple-on effect is that Paul Radisich has walked away from the team, quoted by Fox Sport as saying "TKR is in breach of contract and I have therefore terminated my contract with immediate effect".

With the Eastern Creek round of the V8 Supercar series starting in just a couple of days time, it seems the most likely scenario is that TKR will seek to lease their licence to a development series team. If they can't make it to Eastern Creek with a car, they face the additional burden of fines from TEGA, which requires licence holders to attend all rounds of the series.

For more information, check out the NewsTalk ZB web site, and in particular the interview with Aaron Noonan (browse to http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/audio2/05165323.wma) from MNews.

The MRF Lancers of Katsu Taguchi and Jussi Valimaki were back for round 3 of the APRC season, the Rally of Canberra. But even with the additional competition, Cody Crocker again grabbed maximum points, increasing his championship lead to 32 points.

While Taguchi had a good Leg 1 and finished 2nd for the event, turbo problems on Leg 2 allowed Valimaki to capture an additional bonus point. The team-mates now tied for 2nd place, on 24 points.

TheDogBox #66 will provide full coverage of the ARC section of Rally of Canberra, and should be ready for download within a couple of days.
