It's our mid-year WRC review! A little longer than normal, but hopefully worth the listen.

We have a chat to Malcolm Wilson of the BP-Ford World Rally Team and Paul Howarth of the Subaru World Rally Team about final half of the season and the FIA announcements on rule and calendar changes.

Plus, Amberie Kat of the What in the Rally World blog pops in to talk about the first half of the season, and who she thinks will take out the 2007 season.

As always there's plenty of music, this week from:

Jodi Martin - "Jump Straight In". Originally from the coastal semi-desert region near Ceduna, South Australia, Jodi Martin has written songs for Kasey Chambers as well as supporting Arlo Guthrie and Bruch Cockburn. This track is from here 2001 release 'Water and Wood', on Hot Bread Records

Sundayze - One Experiment. Sundayze is an acoustic-funk-rock-reggae-dub band, based on Sydney's Northern Beaches. They're inspired to create music that complements the sport of surfing and will transport any listener into a world of chilled out and mellow sounds that you can groove to.

"Sundayze soulful noise thawed the wintry WAVES office into a steamin' summers day" - WAVES Surfing Magazine, October 2006

Mitch Salisbury & The Sarcasm Professors - Blue. When not playing with The Idea, Mitch takes a 90 degree turn to front the The Sarcasm Professors . This track will be launched on August 20, downloadable from iTunes and Napster.

Jeremiah and the Charles Darwin Band - Freedom. A fully committed, self generated, young and energetic band, playing at every opportunity and currently touring the east coast. The group has an infectious and humble nature on and off stage, exerting a huge energy that has been compared to the greats of Australian music.

ARC and APRC - Dean Herridge scores a 3rd outright in China, Cody Crocker grabs another win in the APRC, and Les Walkden looks to place Brendan Reeves into the Junior WRC.

Holidays - I want to go back!

Music this week from:

Jackie Marshall - You Want What I've Got. "Wow, what an intriguing, stunning voice. It feels like every note you sing falls out at random yet somehow lands in the right place. I'd love to be able to write with the same abandonment to which you float your lyrics so effortlessly over your chords. Awesome to hear someone with such an original sound going on...” - Missy Higgins.

You can get Jackie's debut CD here, and gig dates from her MySpace page.

Tina Dico - Room With a View. You may not have heard the name before, but Tina has won multiple industry awards for songwriting, including a Grammy. Out-charting international acts like Coldplay and U2 in her native Denmark, 'In the Red' was Tina's first foray into the US and UK markets in 2006, and since then has released a series of acoustic songs, recorded live in San Fransciso and available from iTunes.

Download 'Room With a View' (mp3) from 'In the Red' on Defend Music Inc.

The Winter Sounds - Windy City Nights. The Winter Sounds are an ambitious, atmospheric indie-pop outfit completely unique in style and sound, hopeful and triumphant. The band creates an aural study of contrasts on their debut Porcelain Empire, creating an alluring sound tapestry that leaves a sublimely angelic impression on the listeners psyche.

Download 'Windy City Nights' (mp3) on Livewire Recordings.

Buy at iTunes Music Store or Rhapsody.

Background music: Cargo Cult - 'Wed' (courtesy of Magnatune). Intro music: JRD - 'Downshift 116'. Incidental music by Derek K. Miller.

Three from three for Cody Crocker and the Motor Image Team. His nearest rivals, Katsu Taguchi and Jussi Valimaki, fought hard all weekend, but couldn't stop the 2006 champ scoring maximum points.

Meanwhile, Hiroshi Yanagisawa was blindingly quick in his brand new Subaru, only a leg 1 puncture slowing him down.
